Bartender at a Four-Star Spa Resort

Old Edwards Inn and Spa, a four-star luxury resort in the mountains of Western North Carolina, is seeking a full-time professional bartender. If you have skills, experience and a passion for mixing premium cocktails in a high-end service environment, you could be a candidate this position. The cocktail program is an essential component of the Old Edwards offering, and it works in tandem with a world-class, award-winning culinary program to deliver a cravable and memorable experience for our guests. The F&B team is a tight-knit “family” of professionals that remain on the leading edge of culinary and cocktail trends, and continuously devise ways to improve service, operations and products for the respective venues. They know how to have fun while remaining highly efficient, professional and appropriately personable where the guests are concerned. The successful Bartender candidate will be able to wow our guests with his or her knowledge of mixology and the ability to recommend just the right beverage. You will know how to multi-task, offer a genuine smile and maintain a demeanor of calm control—even in the busiest of times. Old Edwards Inn and Spa is a wellness resort, and the ambiance for the guest always remains relaxation, leisure and top-notch, personalized service. For the bartender, this means projecting an attitude of skill, efficiency, ease, warmth, caring and passion. 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Greeting guests in a timely and professional manner
  • Verifying legal drinking age of guests
  • Demonstrating full knowledge of bar and menu items and make recommendations
  • Accurately taking food and beverage orders in a timely manner at the bar and lounge area
  • Delivering food and beverage orders within established time frames
  • Consistently using suggestive selling techniques
  • Ensuring that alcohol is consumed in designated areas only
  • Setting up and maintaining appropriate stock levels for the bar
  • Assisting in placing orders for all liquor and bar related supplies
  • Conducting inventory of all liquor and bar related supplies

Requirements

Qualifications of the Successful Applicant

  • Have High School diploma or GED
  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Have/obtain any necessary alcohol service licenses
  • Have minimum of one year of experience operating a full service bar in a high-end environment
  • Possess strong knowledge of alcohol mixology, drink menus and classic cocktail preparation
  • Be free of any physical limitations that would interfere with the job requirements
  • Be able to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Be capable of proficiently, cooperatively and calmly working in a fast pace environment
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills with genuine talent for interacting with guests
  • Be well spoken with good communication skills, and possess accurate math and cash handling skills

This position pays $5.00 per hour plus tips.
